The six-wheel-drive Curiosity rover weighs about as much as a Suzuki Samurai. Of course, taking it off-roading on Mars required more than just putting it on a trailer. Getting there took 8-1/2 months on a 13,000 mph rocket. Last Sunday, however, it touched down safely.
The rover is on a two-year mission to study the planet’s climate and geology, and to determine if Mars could have ever supported life.
After the jump you’ll find another video that goes into more detail on the rover.
